Franklin River Rafting Trips
One of the world’s last great wild rivers, The Franklin River is the most remote commercially rafted river in the world, ploughing its way through the rugged south west of Tasmania. Experience the exhilaration of raftings action, alongside of the wild beauty of the Franklin River with it’s expansive temperate rain forest, deep gorges and rugged quiet pools.
Our campsites are often on small cleared areas along the riverbank, with evenings spent sitting around the camp after a gourmet meal, taking in the surroundings of our environment.
Teamwork is essential and your participation in all activities, be it scouting rapids or camp chores, is encouraged and necessary for the smooth running of the trip. This involvement will also ensure that your trip is a rewarding one.
Our Guides
Our experienced Guides know the river in and out. Rapids on the Franklin can change dramatically with water levels, and your guides make decision on whether to run a particular rapid or portage (carry) the boat around. Your guides are there to keep you informed, to manage the preparation and running of the expedition, and to see that you get the most from your adventure.
Safety
We use a minimum of two rafts for safety reasons. Trips carry satellite telephones (not for personal use), first aid kits and repair kits. Our guides are not only trained, but are skilled in River Rescue and First Aid.
You should feel confident swimming with a buoyancy vest should you fall out or in the event of a raft capsizing.
